Is your conference room killing your meeting? Improve your space and impress your clients and staff with these conference room design tips!
What’s the Function?
How do you use your conference room? Though it might seem apparent that a conference room’s purpose is to hold meetings, consider the audience and the types of meetings that take place on a daily basis. Is your conference room mostly held for client meetings? Then perhaps the best location would be close to the reception area, so a client doesn’t have to travel through workspaces that could be messy or hold sensitive information. Consider integrating casework pieces into the design to house drinks and refreshments for guests. Do you need privacy? Maybe opt for solid walls or semi-opaque glass. How do you typically conduct meetings and display information? For how many people? It’s important to consider the overall layout of the room and equipment requirements to make sure your space is fully accommodating and functional.
What kind of message do you want to send to clients and staff? Conference rooms are a great way to incorporate your company branding (read more about that here!). Tie in branding colors or logos through finish materials and furnishings. Think, also, about your company’s values and principals. Are you more formal? Then opt for neutral tones, subtle patterns, and layers of texture for interest. If your company is more energetic use a bold color, digital wallcovering, or complex carpet tile patterns to express your workplace culture.
Get Input from Your Employees
Take a survey and find out how your current conference room setup is working out for your employees. Is the current 12-person conference room ever used at full capacity? Maybe it’s used for 2-3 people at a time and your company could benefit from several small dual-purpose meeting spaces, focus rooms, or huddle spaces. Tailor your space to your employee’s specific needs. Keep clients engaged and attract top talent with a conference room professionally designed by a certified interior designer.
